Dell Recovery Here at 24 Hour Data, we were struck by the honesty and humor of this blog post about data back up for business owners, http://blogs.forbes.com/quickerbettertech/2011/01/25/the-guy-from-dell-t... at the Forbes Magazine website. To summarize, a business owner named Gene Marks sat down on a Sunday afternoon to launch his company's accounting application... to discover his Dell server had failed. He had daily back-ups available but, with only one server in the small business, he had no place to restore the files. He states succinctly: “Having a backup is fine. But not having a backup environment is a problem.” Long story short, four business days (remember, this was a Sunday night) and $500 later, he was able to get his server repaired and get his small business back up and running.

Hard Drive Recovery Hard drives fail. That's simply a fact of technology. But you can prolong the life of your hard drive and keep your computer running optimally, by performing some simple maintenance tasks. If your company has an IT staff, you should make sure they are performing this routine maintenance on all the computers in your building regularly. For home PC and Mac users, it's a good idea to mark your calendar to perform regular maintenance. These processes don't take a lot of time, but they can save you a lot of time by speeding up your system and also helping to prevent hard disk drive failure and the loss of your important data -- which could require professional hard disk drive data recovery services. Follow these three simple steps:

Grinding Hard Drive If you listen carefully, you'll hear that hard drives do make a lot of sounds. Some are completely normal. But you never want to hear your hard drive making grinding noises. Grinding sounds occur when damaged drive heads have rubbed against the hard drive disk platters too long. The platters have already become damaged and you are facing the loss of your important data. Your hard drive has failed!  Don't panic. While grinding sounds from a hard drive mean the drive has failed, a professional data recovery service can help. It's likely that your hard drive will require both a logical and physical data recovery. About Physical Hard Drive Recovery

Hard Drive Sounds Today's technology brings us hard drives with near-silent operation, but most hard drives still make some noise. Most of the time, we don't pay attention to the sounds, so if we're tuned into them for some reason, they may cause us some concern.  What hard drive sounds are normal -- and which ones indicate a failed hard drive and a need for emergency hard drive data recovery service? Normal hard drive sounds include:  A whining noise during drive spin-up, when your computer is first booting up  Muted clicks when the hard drive is accessing data, especially if you are opening a program  Hard clicks when you shut down your computer or it goes into sleep mode (also known as head park operations) Hard Drive Sounds that Need Data Recovery Fast

Restore Hard Drive Data We admit it, at 24 Hour Data we like saving the day and restoring our customer's data. But we also don't want you to spend money when it's not necessary. In most cases, the grinding, clicking, vibration or whirring sounds of hard drive failure mean you should power down your computer and call 24 Hour Data immediately. You don't want to face complete hard drive failure, physical damage to your drive, and the possible permanent loss of your data. The first thing you should do if you hear any unusual noises coming from your hard drive is to power down your computer system. Then you can disconnect the drive and see if the noise is coming from another source within your computer. Testing the Fan

Data Recovery Service Data recovery emergencies can happen any time, any place. But there are certain peak times of the year when the need for data recovery becomes even more common: during hurricane season, during winter storm season, and even just prior to the holidays, when hackers are inclined to try to bring down eCommerce websites.  It's important that your data recovery service of choice has enough of the right space, including certified clean room laboratories, experienced data recovery professionals, and the experience and infrastructure to handle large workloads.

USB 3 Data Recovery The USB 3.0 protocol officially launched at the Consumer Electronics Show last year. But this year has seen the introduction of dozens of new USB 3.0 devices and the introduction of USB 3.0 devices into homes and corporate applications everywhere. 3.0 SuperSpeed represents a significant step up from the 60MB/s transfer rate of USB 2.0. The new protocol offers speeds of 5.0 Gbits/s or 625 MB/s. For the first time, USB transfer rates may actually exceed the read/write speeds of conventional hard disk drives. When you're using solid state drive storage, however, you'll appreciate the blazing fast speed of USB 3.0. USB 3.0 has proven useful in homes and businesses for: - faster back-ups to external hard drives (now there's really no reason not to back up your data!) - transferring graphics, including movies and photos, from flash memory cards onto your computer
